Genshin Impact’s version 4.0 is set to be launched in mid-August after the conclusion of version 3.8. Amidst much hype and leaks, yet another piece of information about ver 4.0 has dropped.
As per the latest leak by prominent leaker Vississ, in Fontaine, the region in ver 4.0, the political and social imbalance will play a significant role in the story’s progression with a focus on “contradictions between upper and lower classes” and a significant wealth gap.” Also mentioned was the fact that the region would tackle “environmental pollution” as a primary subject of the story.

In addition to the leaks, developers HoYoVerse had previously featured subtle hints at the region’s nature. Fontaine is reported to bear heavy links to “justice” as the region’s core theme.
The region also has advanced technology that can be seen in multiple instances. One player originating from the region, is Kamera.
The new leaks have forced fans to compare Fontaine’s reported story with another release from the devs – Honkai: Star Rail’s region Bolobog.
The theme of class struggle isn’t unheard of in Genshin Impact. The same is the case with the current region of Sumeru with the divide between desert-dwelling Eremites and academics of Sumeru City.
The rampant spreading of the “Withering Zones” in Sumeru would ring a bell when it comes to the aspect of pollution.
The launch of version 4.0 is thus imminent. It is just two updates away. A bunch of Fontaine’s characters and their gameplay are being leaked and announced officially.
This includes notable characters like the sibling duo of Lyney and Lynette. It has also been confirmed that players will be entering Fontaine from Sumeru rather than the new rumored region of Liyue.
