Overclocker CENS hits 3.93GHz on Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 card

Chinese graphics card manufacturers Colorful brought out their RTX 4090 LAB graphics card variant. This card is set apart because the RTX 4090 iGame LAB will be a limited edition targeted purely for overclocking, with only 300 units produced.

Overclocker CENS broke all previous records a month ago and breached the 3800 MHz barriers with clock speeds as high as 3825 MHz during the test. The testing system was equipped with i9-13900K hardware with liquid nitrogen cooling.

CENS has now surpassed his previous record of 3825 MHz and clocked 3930 MHz in 46 seconds on Colorful’s RTX 4090 iGame LAB graphics card. The software GPUPI was used for the benchmarking. This has secured CENS first place in HWBOT’s GPUPI ranking.

It must be kept in mind that the software GPUPI benchmark is not a 3D test. However, it harnesses the GPU’s computational power to calculate the digits of the mathematical constant Pi using the Bailey-Borwein-Plouffe formula.

In GPUPI, the software calculates the digits of Pi in parallel by utilizing the BPP formula, optimizing it for the CUDA core devices, i.e., graphics cards. This sets it apart from traditional benchmarking software like 3DMark, which utilize 3D rendering to test the graphics card.

This achievement by CENS is even more impressive given that the RTX 4090 iGame LAB edition has a base clock speed of 2235MHz, and the boost clock is rated at 2625MHz. The peak TDP is high at 515 W and requires a 16-pin power connector.

This achievement overjoys the graphics community. This is because CENS has edged closer to the holy grail of the 4.0 GHz clock speed mark, falling only 70MHz short of the mark at 3930MHz.

CENS is at the top of the HWBOT’s GPUPI rankings and is far ahead of the second-placed overclocker OGS’s score of 3840MHz. A quick glance through the rankings reveals that the first 20 spots are occupied by RTX 4090 alone.

This is a clear indication of the untapped potential of the RTX 4090 and how far ahead it is of its competitors – be it AMD’s Radeon RX series or Intel’s Arc GPUs. While the pricing is exorbitant at this point, performance lovers won’t mind breaking the bank for this beast.
