Upcoming AMD CPU spotted on Gigabyte’s X570 motherboard support list

AMD’s Cezanne is the codename for the 7nm based 5000 series of mobile and desktop APUs. These are based on the Zen 3 CPU and Vega GPU architecture, taking over the 4000 “Renoir” series.

According to Gigabyte, a CPU was spotted that is yet to be announced officially by AMD, compatible with the X570 motherboards and AM4 sockets. The CPU, named Ryzen 7 5700, surprisingly enough, doesn’t come with an integrated GPU, similar to the G series.

The unannounced APU, the Ryzen 7 5700, will be based on the Cezanne silicon. It packs 8 cores and 16 threads and features a high base clock of 3.7 GHz and a boost clock of up to 4.6 GHz.

The resemblance to the 5700G is uncanny. The only difference is the absence of the integrated GPU in the non-G variant and a 100MHz lower base clock frequency.

Both the CPUs have the same L2 cache of 4MB and L3 cache of 16 MB. The L3 cache is just half of the 5700X which comes under the same series of processors based on the Cezanne silicon.

The Ryzen 7 5700 without an integrated GPU as seen in the supported CPU list by Gigabyte

The fact that it’s not a reiteration of any earlier product is reinstated by the fact that the Stepping has been mentioned as A0. A0 means that the CPU Ryzen 7 5700 will be sent out as an engineering sample for AM4 sockets.

Engineering samples generally undergo minor microcode changes before the official launch. The TDP was confirmed to be 65W. This is comparable and mostly similar to most Ryzen 5000G series CPUs.

As per cpubenchmark.net, the Ryzen 7 5700 has an average CPU mark of 344089, just behind the 5700G’s 24693 points. The source for these results is yet to be known, so they must be taken with a grain of salt.

Other motherboard partners like ASRock, ASUS or MSI have yet to include this CPU in their supported product list.

The absence of the i-GPU might make it cheaper than the 5700G variant, which initially retailed at USD 359.

While the absence of an integrated GPU is a downside, the clock frequencies and the cache frequencies are attractive. Coupling with a powerful GPU would result in quite a potent build.
