Red Dead Redemption originally came out for the PlayStation 3. It was released on 18th May 2010. The prequel to this, Red Dead Redemption II, was an even bigger hit upon its release in 2018.
The OG Red Dead Redemption was a recipient of many awards. It received critical acclaim across visuals, music and narratives. It was also named Game of the Year by several gaming publications.
Rumors of 2010’s Red Dead Redemption Remake have been sparked by the classification received from the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee. The new rating bears classification number CC-NV-230615-001.

It must be kept in mind that the date on which the rating was issued is in the classification number, i.e., June 15th, 2003. Also, NV in Korean game ratings refers to Console Titles, while NP refers to PC titles.
While it’s true that a console rating doesn’t necessarily mean that a PC title isn’t present as well but currently the classification is only for Red Dead Redemption’s Console version.
Interestingly, classifications for the original Red Dead Redemption and the two expansions – Undead Nightmare Collection and GOTY Edition- existed in Korea before this classification.
This hints at the possibility of a newly remastered version of Red Dead Redemption after the success of RDR-2.
Red Dead Redemption also never released a port from the PS3 and Xbox 360. It was removed from PS Now in late 2022. Xbox Series X|S are the only latest generation consoles that support this title now.
Take-Two Interactive’s latest financial disclosure also revealed that Red Dead Redemption titles had reached the milestone of 75 million lifetime sales. Unsurprisingly, RDR2 accounts for two-thirds of that sales figure.
Given the magnitude of success that the developers, as well as the production studio, have experienced with RDR2, a remake wouldn’t be too far-fetched. Only time will tell if fans get their hands on a revamped but nostalgic Red Dead Redemption Remaster.
