Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB variant’s launch date leaked

Nvidia’s RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti, both with 8 GB memory, have been in the market for over a month. There was widespread anger and discontent amongst the users who got the new cards.

The primary reason for this was just 8 GB of virtual memory that was being provided at a relatively high price point – USD 299 for the 4060 and USD 399 for the 4060 Ti. Users were not happy.

As revealed by @Zed__Wang, Nvidia is launching the already announced third and final card from the RTX 4060 family – the RTX 4060 Ti with 16 GB of memory on July 18th, 2023. The card will have an MSRP of USD 499.

As has been the Nvidia tradition, the base variant of the card will go live on July 17th, and those priced at a premium, i.e., above the USD 499 mark, will go live on July 18th.

The RTX 4060 Ti with 16 GB of VRAM will have the same configuration as the RTX 4060 Ti with 8 GB of VRAM. Based on the AD106 GPU, it has 4352 CUDA cores clocked to 2540 MHz. AIB and board partners are expected to factory-overclock and release some performance variants of RTX 4060Ti.

The shader computes the throughput of both models which is listed at 22 TFLOPs. The memory speed is also the same at 18 Gbps, at which the GPU has 288 GBps of memory bandwidth. It will feature the same limited 128-bit memory bus and the same TDP.

The RTX 4060 Ti with 16 GB memory will likely be an AIB-exclusive model. This means that 4060 Ti with 16 GB of memory will have no Founders Edition from Nvidia.

As per @aschilling, the RTX 4060 Ti with 16 GB of memory has only one purpose. It was planned to silence the critics who said 8GB of VRAM weren’t enough.

From a buyer’s point of view, going for the extra 8 GB of memory comes at an increase of USD 100 from the RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB to 16 GB. This jump in itself isn’t much. However, this has left many fans unhappy as they believe the 16 GB variant should come at the price of the 8 GB variant.

This has led to many AIB partners confirming that they won’t be marketing this variant as much as the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti with 8 GB memory.

While it might not be much, the pricing is steep, considering the specs and the limited bus width. However, ultimately, the success of the RTX 4060 Ti with 16 GB of memory will depend on the board partner pricing and their ability to lower margins when necessary.
