AMD releases list of recommended hardware for Starfield ahead of launch

AMD announced that Starfield’s Premium Edition, valued at USD 99.99 on Steam, will be bundled with higher-end AMD hardware. In contrast, regular mainstream hardware will get a standard edition of the title for USD 69.99 on Steam.

AMD has given a set of three hardware configurations for 1080p, 1440p and 4K gaming experience when playing Bethesda’s Starfield. The Legendary Experience, i.e., in full 4K, will use AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, Epic Experience, i.e., 1440p, will use AMD Ryzen 7700X and AMD Radeon RX 6800, and Heroic Experience supports 1080p using Ryzen 5 7600 and Radeon RX 7600.

Hardware Specifications for different levels of gaming experience when playing Starfield

Users who have already purchased AMD hardware need not worry. AMD has confirmed they will bundle Starfield with desktop and mobile systems with eligible AMD hardware. The game version included will depend on the cost of the hardware.

To generalize, the standard edition of Starfield will be bundled exclusively with mainstream AMD Ryzen 5 CPUS and Ryzen 7600/6600 class GPUs.

Supported List of CPUs and GPUs by AMD that will be combined in a Starfield bundle

The Premium edition of Starfield will be bundled with higher-end CPUs like Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 7900X3D, 7950X, 7900X and 7900 and higher-end GPUs like Radeon RX 7900XTX, 7900XT, 6950 XT, 6900XT and many more.

The game is of galactic proportions, quite literally. It has been designed with the top AMD GPUs like Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 6800 series in mind.

Executive director of Bethesda, Todd Howard, has said about the port of Starfield to PC, that it will be a modder’s paradise. This has been backed up by reputed Modder PureDark, who confirmed that Nvidia’s DLSS 3 support would be added to Starfield via a mod, probably behind a Patreon Wall.

Having an exclusive partnership with AMD, Starfield only currently supports AMD’s FSR 2.0. Many fans are disappointed over the lack of DLSS 3 support on Nvidia GPUs. This means that Nvidia GPU users will have to rely on raw frame generation until future updates are available from the developers.
