Destiny 2 leak reveals new Darkness ability for Guardians

Destiny 2 is in Season 21, dubbed the Season of the Deep. Several changes, new updates, weapons, and additions to the lore have marked this Season.

Recently, Redditor u/Nimbus9002 in the Destiny r/Destiny2Leaks Subreddit has spotted in-game footage where a burst of Methane was seen, possibly themed after the Season of the Deep. This is one of the many transmat effects we see in the game. The ability highlight features a red color in the HUD seen in-game.

The distinctive red color has not been spotted anywhere else in the game. The leak seems even more credible given that Bungie is known for being careful and secretive when setting Guardian abilities apart from one another.

The lack of a stark red color in any of the Guardian abilities until now shows that this Methane Burst will be an upcoming addition to the game.

What makes the leak even more reliable is that the community properly investigated the clip spotted on veed.io. The Nightfall score on the counter verifies the validity, usually seen in leaks from legitimate Bungie tests.

However, some skeptical fans are not convinced. The Reddit account being created only a day before the launch is a big reason for it. It was also pointed out that Bungie usually uses Season of the Hunt armor in their official tests.

One of the most significant observations is that the video shows the player using a Season of the Deep transmat effect. However, a quick look on the radar reveals only Defiance NPCs.

While it cannot be faked in-game, it hints that the video is not recent and is probably from the Season of Defiance development.

The community is accepting that most of them are burnt out on Destiny 2 already. It could be Bungie trying to leverage the excitement of a supposed leak to get players back and involved in the game.

The absence of an actual red ability means that Bungie is working on a third and final Guardian Darkness Ability that will be a part of the Final Shape DLC.

It is implausible for this leaked feature to be present in Destiny 2’s Season 22. Players might have to wait a while to see if this leak is credible. As for now, the players can take a deep dive into the Season of the Deep.
