leaked Benchmarks for i9-14900K, reveals performance improvements

Intel has been working hard to surpass the performance of its 13th-generation processors, the flagship being the i9-13900K. Intel’s new Performance and Efficiency Core technology is yielding interesting and unforeseen results.

As reported by reputed hardware leaker @wxnod on Twitter, the Core i9-14900K will be part of the Raptor Lake Refresh lineup with 8+16 Performance + Efficiency cores. A new engineering sample benchmark shows that the boost clock frequency will reach 6.0 GHz, a commendable feat by Intel.

The core count for the i9-14900K remains the same as the previous generation i9-13900K with 24 cores. However, the internal architecture has been redesigned with 8 Performance and 16 Efficiency cores.

The high boost clock frequency is based on Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost technology, which will leverage the Performance Cores. The leak by @wxnod also reveals that the processor will require 125W TDP and 1.385 V to hit the 6.0GHz frequency.

Benchmark details from the CPU-Z benchmark accompanied the leak. The i9-14900K notched up 978 points in the single-core test.

The multi-core performance is good, with 18117.5 points in multi-core benchmarks.

Compared to the previous 12th and 13th generations, i.e., the i9-12900K and the i9-13900K, the i9-14900K performs better. There is a performance improvement of 9.7% on the single-core performance over the 13th generation and 8.4% on multi-core performance.

The performance improvements over the 12th generation are even a more significant jump. There is a jump in performance of 19.4% on single-core performance and 59% on multi-core performance.

This improvement is attributed to the doubled Efficiency Core count. There are certain rumors that Intel is set to announce its Core K-CPUs as a part of the 14th Gen Core series at the Intel Innovation event. The Raptor Lake Refresh announcement is expected next month.
