AC: Conspiracies, set in World War 2, could be an exciting read

Dreaming of an Assassin’s Creed story based on a spy-thriller does not take much imagination. Fans will want to dive in and play such a title hands-on.

Fans can treat themselves to Assassin’s Creed: Conspiracies, set in World War 2, which came out in 2018. It does not come as a playable Assassin’s Creed title but as a well-written, limited-run comic book set in the terrifying periods of World War 2, with the usual conflict between the Assassins and the Templars.

The story was published in two parts in French by Les Deux Royaumes. Conspiracies feature a British Assassin – Eddie Gorm – who influenced the course of history in 1943.

The official synopsis states that the storyline is set during World War 2 when the race for the atomic bomb was on. Eddie is integrated into the Assassins Brotherhood.

The brotherhood sets the path for Eddie, who infiltrates the Templars. This is done to foil their plan of creating a devastating new weapon, the atomic bomb.

Eddie Gorm is the boss of the docks whose obsession is to run his small business. He does not care about the War that’s waging in Europe. He only cares about his military rations, traffic of alcohol, and settling of account in the district of the East End.

He does not care about the war or the Nazis, which he considers “the problem of others.” However, this changes soon when there’s a knock on Eddie’s door.

He is inducted into the Brotherhood of Assassins, where he realizes that the fate of mankind rests with him.

He is pulled into the whirlpool of the everlasting conflict between the Order of the Templars and the Brotherhood of Assassins.

Fans have widely considered Assassin’s Creed Conspiracies one of the best-written Assassin’s Creed extended universe stories. So, while we wait for Assassin’s Creed Mirage to release in under a month on October 5th, a re-read of the well-written Conspiracies should be pretty fun.

About Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft. The game is the thirteenth primary installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While its historical timeframe precedes that of Valhalla, its modern-day framing story succeeds Valhalla’s own.

Set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age—in particular during the Anarchy at Samarra—the story follows Basim Ibn Ishaq (a character first introduced in Valhalla), a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones to fight for peace and liberty against the Order of the Ancients,[b] who desire peace through control. The main narrative focuses on Basim’s internal struggle between his duties as a Hidden One and his desire to uncover his mysterious past.
