Mortal Kombat 1 patch announced ahead of full release to fix bugs

Mortal Kombat 1’s early access kicked off on September 14th after Mortal Kombat X, a renaming that confused most fans. The review for the title has been more or less favorable.

Before Mortal Kombat 1’s global full-release on September 19th, the developers NetherRealm announced a patch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The patch includes a lot of cosmetic changes along with bug fixes.

This patch is a result of player feedback that was received from the early access period. Remember that this early access was only for those who purchased the Premium or the Kollector’s Edition to enjoy the title ahead of the rest of the world.

The game has lived up to the hype that surrounds it. While most are stunned by the numbering reset, it can be attributed to the fact that after recently becoming the Fire God, Liu Kang uses the powers he gained at the end of Mortal Kombat 11.

He uses these powers to reshape the Mortal Kombat timeline into peace, stability, and harmony. However, the era of peace does not last long with inevitable dark forces creating chaos.

The player feedback during the Early Access period has been mostly positive. However, as with any title of this scale, minor bugs are inevitably present, which are being addressed in the patch.

For the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the characters have been polished and fine-tuned for the best experience. Several finishing moves have also been added. The UI has also been cleaned up to include additional new options.

Players can enjoy a single-player board game-like experience in the new Invasions mode. Various encounters have been polished along with general bug fixes, rebalanced boss fights, and challenge towers have been added in the Gateway Mesa. The Mesa Progression has been adjusted along with the addition of the new Season 1 Kontent.

The movie player has been improved along with visual polish to many scenes. The story finale and the final boss have also been fine-tuned with the addition of 4K Resolution movies.

Online matchmaking has also been improved, and bug fixes have been added to the online mode. The story campaign and online gameplay have been enabled for the Nintendo Switch.

Seeing such prompt responses from the developers listening to the community is excellent. This will make Mortal Kombat 1 a genuinely immersive and improved experience over its predecessors.

About Mortal Kombat 1

Developer NetherRealm Studios has officially revealed Mortal Kombat 1, the next chapter in its long-running fighting game series, which was released on September 19th. It takes on that name, rather than the expected Mortal Kombat 12 name, because–as previous teasers hinted at–Mortal Kombat 1 is a sort-of-reboot of the series and takes place in the New Era timeline established by Liu Kang after he ascended to godhood in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11.
