Starfield crosses 10 million players in less than a month of release

Starfield is Bethesda’s first new IP in over 25 years. The sheer scale of the game has amazed fans, along with the immersive gameplay that takes some time to get used to, characteristic of most RPGs.

Starfield launched on September 6th and has amassed 10 million players, per Starfield’s official Twitter. They thanked the fans for this “astronomical” number. This makes Starfield the biggest Bethesda launch to date.

This comes after Starfield initially broke the record of 6 million players just two days after launch, on September 8th. The 10 million mark means that Starfield broke its record.

Despite reaching such great heights sales-wise, Starfield has encountered more than its fair share of criticism regarding gameplay. This included complaints regarding frequent loading screens and bugs.

However, many players have come to Starfield’s defense. They have said Starfield is an actual RPG game that takes some time to sink in.

This is backed up by the fact that only 75% of the players made it past the tutorial stage in Starfield. However, players who purchased the title have a higher conversion rate of 88%. This can be attributed to the Xbox Game Pass, wherein players did not go through with it if it did not feel great in the first 10 minutes.

A meager 2.5% of the players have completed Starfield’s entire story. This makes sense why there are a lot of half-baked user reviews on Metacritic, leading to a score of 6.6/10.

In comparison, the critic review rating rests at 84/100. The players must grow into the game to enjoy its true potential.

With a clear developmental roadmap by very transparent developers, Starfield is a title promised to be maintained by Bethesda for years and years to come.

Bethesda also works closely with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel on Driver Support and hopes to include stability improvements in the next update. Until new content drops, players can explore infinity and beyond in Starfield.
