Details for Final Fantasy XIV upcoming patch 6.5 revealed at Tokyo Gameshow

Final Fantasy XIV was released on September 22, 2010. Almost 13 years since its release, a new patch has been announced for the title.

At this year’s Tokyo Gameshow, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed that the Growing Light content update is going live on October 3. The 6.5 patch series will mark the end of the current story arc.

Yoshida initially teased The Growing Light patch at the 2023 Las Vegas Fanfest. A few main story elements were also pointed out. One of the regions of prime importance is the Lunar Subterrane Dungeon.

Another event that was teased was the Climatic Abyssal Fracture trial against Zeromus. At the Tokyo Game Show event, Yoshida was joined by Global Community producer Toshio Murouchi.

A brief overview of the Growing Light content was shared during the panel. Gamers were also shown a short gameplay from the Abyssal Fracture trial, the Thaleia alliance raid, and a brand-new Crystalline Conflict map called the Red Sands.

Because of the patch, the Final Fantasy XIV servers will undergo a 24-hour maintenance period. This means that the game will be unplayable on October 2.

In addition to this, Square Enix has partnered with KFC Japan. As a part of this partnership, any customer who purchases a combo meal worth at least 1240 Yens or USD 8.33 will be given some stickers and the “Eat Chicken” emote in-game.

One thing that worries the fans is that there will be little time for Final Fantasy XIV players to complete the Rising Seasonal Quests. The 10th-anniversary event and the associated Moogle Tomestone campaign will end once the servers go for maintenance.

Regardless, the upcoming winter will be enjoyable for Final Fantasy XIV fans, who are getting a lot of new content with the upcoming patch 6.5.
