Counter-Strike 2’s VAC system issues yet another bizarre ban

Counter-Strike players have always found a way around the anti-cheat systems. This has been a common issue since the days of CS: GO. As a result, anti-cheat mechanisms are more robust now. However, this results in unforeseen and quite bizarre complications sometimes.

The latest inclusion to the Counter-Strike Franchise comes in the form of Counter-Strike 2. This title has its VAC Live anti-cheat system. It has surfaced now that this anti-cheat system issues bans for players who have their mouse’s DPI settings above 10000 and are moving the camera erratically.

This seems a rather bizarre reason to ban someone. The feature was spotted during casual play warm-up periods when players generally test their peripherals and get trigger-happy for the upcoming competitive matches.

Some veteran players of CS: GO, who have now transferred over to Counter-Strike 2, are speculating a probable cause for the ban.

The reason why the VAC anti-cheat is picking up the fast mouse movement is because of a cheating technique known as “spin botting.” This technique relies on macro engines generally implemented via cheat engines.

However, the mistake on the part of the developers is not acceptable to the players. They have taken to social media to describe the issue as an “unacceptable oversight.”

Even though Valve has an excellent reputation for overturning bans that the VAC has dished out, fans are disappointed that they were banned for having a mouse good enough in the first place.

This is also not the first issue in recent times that CS: 2 players have encountered. Earlier this month, VAC was flagging and banning players using AMD’s Anti-Lag+ feature in the game.

If Valve ironed out these minor issues, Counter-Strike 2 could become a huge success, probably surpassing CS: GO. However, this will take quite some time. But until then, players can gun down enemies in Counter-Strike 2.
