Fortnite announces that the Battle Royale is returning to Chapter 1

Big news for Fortnite fans is few and far between. However, developers and distributors – Epic Games – have big news ahead of the new season.

Developers Epic have posted on Twitter the image of the iconic Fortnite Battle Bus along with a caption suggesting that the Battle Royale title will be returning to Chapter 1 on 11.3.2023.

This echoes what Epic Vice President and Co-founder Mark Rein revealed that the theme for the next Season of Fortnite would be “Rewind.”

The announcement also confirms the weeks of rumors that suggested a return to chapter 1. This is because fans have been spotting the Chapter 1 Map of Fortnite.

Many influencers and Epic Partners have also received gifts that hint in a similar direction. They have received Care Packages from Epic that feature pins representing the first chapter of Fortnite.

There was also a vinyl in each pack with an etching on the backside revealing the Chapter 1 Season 5 map. The original tweet by Epic Games also included the fact that Mantling and Sprinting from Chapters 2 and 3 will be included, even though Fortnite is going back to its roots.

As a part of the launch of Alan Wake 2, Fortnite hosted an Alan Wake: Flashback Experience. This event recreated the story of the original Alan Wake title to familiarize newcomers with the recently released Alan Wake 2.

However, all is not going so well for Epic Games despite their successful launches. As recently as last week, Epic announced they were laying off 830 employees.

This was more of a survival choice for the company rather than a planned lay-off because of the “financial woes” of the company.  Fans are very excited to travel back in time in the world of Fortnite, which will prove to be a breath of fresh air for the entire fanbase.

About Fortnite

Fortnite is an online video game developed by Epic Games and released in 2017. It is available in three distinct game mode versions that otherwise share the same general gameplay and game engine: Fortnite Battle Royale, a free-to-play battle royale game in which up to 100 players fight to be the last person standing;

Fortnite: Save the World, a cooperative hybrid tower defense-shooter and survival game in which up to four players fight off zombie-like creatures and defend objects with traps and fortifications they can build; and Fortnite Creative, in which players are given complete freedom to create worlds and battle arenas.
