This time of the year, all gamers have just two things in mind – spending time with family and grinding on the games they love. Developers Blizzard Entertainment are looking to expand on the lore of Overwatch 2 with their free latest comic.
The latest free one-shot comic titled “Guardian of Tetsuzaka” for Overwatch 2 by developers Blizzard Entertainment expands on the title’s lore. This comic is a prequel to one of Kiriko’s early exploits as an indie freedom fighter. The timeline is before joining the Yokai of Overwatch 2.
Kiriko, the title’s first healer, was one of the original three heroes at the launch of Overwatch 2. For those unfamiliar with the heroes and their powers, Kiriko is a modern ninja wielding mystic powers and kunai to dart across the battlefield.
Her character was given even more dimension with the backstory of her association with the Yokai – an underground masked freedom fighter gang who opposed the Hashimoto clan’s tyranny.
The comic, published by CoroCoro Comic, shows the vignette of the heroes Ryoto, Nobuta, and Sakura, who go on to become members of the Yokai in the future.
These three come across a mysterious ninja who happens to be Kiriko. Even though the three never meet Kiriko, their fight is inspired by Kiriko.
It must be kept in mind that this comic does not have an official English translation. The English version of the Japanese cartoon is available, thanks to some translation from the enthusiastic Overwatch 2 fanbase.
In the comic, the trio of Ryoto, Nobuta, and Sakura are captured by the Hashimoto clan after being initially saved by a mysterious ninja who turns out to be Kiriko. After being arrested, they are freed by Kiriko yet again, who turns out to be their guardian angel.
While there has been no official confirmation yet if there will be more heroes from Kiriko’s gang to join Overwatch 2’s ever-expanding roster of heroes, it is pretty interesting to ponder the outcome of a battle with her entire squad in a war.

The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.
