Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s weapon inspection upon respawn removed

Summary

  • Developers Sledgehammer Games have removed the weapon inspection on respawn from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
  • The removal is primarily from the smaller map playlists, where players would die due to the animations.
  • The developers added the famous Gun Game Mode to the Quick Play Filter.

The graphics in Call of Duty Modern Warfare III are quite the spectacle. However, the gameplay leaves much to be desired and has not been developers Sledgehammer Games’ solid suit.

Developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have brought a much-requested change by removing weapon check animations in the small map playlists after respawning.

This was a feature that players had been requesting for a while, especially the competitive players who prefer smaller maps. The precious seconds wasted in unnecessary weapon checks after respawning were proving fatal.

Often, it led to quick and successive deaths of the player because the opposition could zero in on them by the time the weapon check animation ended after respawning.

In addition to this, the January 4th patch also brought another change. Sledgehammer Games’ developers added the Gun Game mode to the Quick Play filter.

Veterans of the Call of Duty franchise will remember that the Gun Game mode was introduced initially in 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. This feature was loved so dearly that gamers took their rage to different parts of the internet when it was removed in Modern Warfare 2.

The big brand name of Call of Duty ensured that Modern Warfare 3 became the best-selling title in the United States at launch despite having a below-par gameplay and storyline.

As per the custom of alternating developers, Treyarch is working on the upcoming Call of Duty title that is expected to be released in later parts of 2024.

However, fans are calling for Call of Duty and Activision to switch back to the older custom of releasing a well-developed title every couple of years instead of forcing themselves to reuse all assets and release a new title every year.

Only time will tell what stance Activision adopts, given that now it has more money to invest since its acquisition by Microsoft has gone through. Until then, players can fire away in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
