Remote Play Together, Refresh Rate & More Changes in Steam Deck Update

Do you remember the first Steam Deck? Yes, the initial launch was far from perfect, but Valve has never failed to address queries from its fan base. The developers resolve every major issue and work on making the console better.

Valve has announced a new SteamOS and Steam Client update. The official Steam website further explained the new patches added in an announcement post.

The major upgrade is that Remote Play Together mode is now fully operational. Players can even host and join remote sessions with other users.

The mode is easily accessible from the Quick Access Menu of compatible games.

The Deck update also drastically silenced the very loud fan. Users can noticeably see the difference after the update, even with high-performing game settings.

You can now scale down the default refresh rate between 60 Hz to 40 Hz. Controlling the refresh rate and frame limits will allow users to stabilize the game to conserve battery life.

Deck also allows more screen resolution settings. Its gain staging has been modified to filter out static from the audio jack.

The speaker volume limit has also been increased.

The Steam Client is also getting a few tweaks.

  • Users will now be notified when less than 2 GB of SSD space remains.
  • The Night Shift keyboard theme has been improved.
  • New icons have been added for the gamepad and in-game mouse commands to make the UI more interactive.
  • Connecting to hidden WLAN is now easier with more accuracy.

The Steam Deck becomes more and more user-friendly with every update. Users have just one complaint right now; a lighter, convenient Steam Deck will be more than welcome. Maybe there’s one in the works right now; we just don’t know yet!
