Win Max 2 by GPD is a handheld gaming PC with 4G LTE connectivity and a 10.1-inch display. The standard base model is priced at $999, while the limited edition costs $899. The console is scheduled to be launched in September 2022.
Youtuber @The Phawx tested the two CPU configurations of the upcoming Win Max 2– Alder Lake Core i5-1260P and AMD Ryzen 7 6800U.
The AMD Ryzen 7 6800U emerged as the clear winner by a considerable margin. Its advanced RDNA2 graphics architecture with 12 CUs proved to be the winning factor against Intel’s Xe – LP graphics featuring 96 CUs. Intel just wasn’t efficient enough.
The following charts highlight the significant differences in the CPUs’ gaming performance.
Another chart compared the TDP and FPS for the CPU-bound Unigine Heaven test at 800p settings.
The results showed that up to 15W, the eight-core configuration was most efficient, while above that specific power limit, the quad-core was preferred.
The GPD Win Max 2 is a handheld console and a compact laptop with a gaming pad. The firmware has several single-threaded cores which complement the Intel CPU. However, most users find the console convenient for gaming, so they prefer AMD instead. The Ryzen 7 6800U is twice as good as the Intel i5-1260P.
