AYANEO Reveals Air Pro– A Handheld Console Featuring AMD’s Barcelo APU

AYANEO’s Air series comprises mini, lightweight handheld consoles designed for convenience. Despite the small size, the devices are faster than Nintendo’s Switch but lack in terms of gaming performance.

AYANEO presented the upcoming handy Air Pro console featuring AMD’s latest Barcelo APU.

The Air Pro console features a 22.4 cm OLED screen. The Barcelo APU is inspired by Cezanne, based on Zen 3 architecture, and was announced in January in a long showcase by AYANEO CEO. The APU is similar to the Ryzen 7 5825U with eight cores and 16 threads.

The compact PCB has an eight-core CPU, M.2 slot, and 32 GB of LPDDR4X memory. It is your usual x86 system configuration.

The lightweight console device comes with small batteries of 10,050 mAH, which are also a concern with the Air series. The base model with Ryzen 5 5560U has even smaller batteries of 7350 mAH. Compared to Valve’s Steam Deck, the Air Pro has less than 50% battery capacity.

The Air and Air Pro will be priced at around $550, with the top variants costing around $1400. AYANEO will ship the Air products featuring 5560U and 5825U in August and September, respectively.

AYANEO also announced the Air Plus, another Air series device featuring AMD’s Mendocino quad-core CPU with RDNA2 graphics architecture. The device will cater to the low-end market at around $290.
