Intel’s Core i5-13600K CPU Sample Was Tested In CPU-Z & Cinebench R23

Intel’s Core i5-13600K CPU is from the Raptor Lake series. It has 14 cores and is manufactured using Intel 7 node architecture. It uses Intel’s Iris Xe GPU. The TDP for the desktop SKU is 125W, while the L2 and L3 cache amounts to 44MB.

Enthusiastic Citizen (ECSM) got their hands on a pre-production sample of Intel’s Core i5-13600K pre-production.

The sample in question is apparently an Engineering Sample 3, designed to operate at the same frequency as Qualification Sample. The card was tested with a custom clock configuration to observe QS specs.

The Core i5-13600K scored 830 points in single-core and 10031 points in multi-core in the CPU-Z benchmark test. The test showed a significant increase in performance as the Alder Lake i5-12600K CPU had scored 768 and 5590 points, respectively.

In the Cinebench R23 test, the i5-13600K got 1387 points in single-core and 24420 in multi-core tests. The i5-12600K obtained 1918 and 17660 points in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

The apparent difference in points in both the tests is interesting. The i5-13600K displayed similar results to AMD’s Ryzen 9 5950X, which has 16 cores and 32 threads. The Ryzen 9 5950X scored 658 in monocore and 12366 in multi-core tests.

The core configuration for the i5-13600K is 6P+8E, with 20 threads. The Performance cores showed a frequency of 5.¼.9 GHz and 3.9 GHz for the Efficient cores. The QS sets these frequencies slightly higher than the default. ECSM tested the processor with all Performance cores set at 5.1 GHz and Efficient cores to 4.0 GHz.

This Raptor Lake sample has an increased turbo power limit(PL2) of about 228W, while the power limit for the Alder Lake i5-12600K model is 150W.

In actual tests, the CPU reached a maximum CPU package limit of 176W. The Raptor Lake models are advertised to overclock really well even in high temperatures. However, the user claimed the final production/commercial unit might be optimized for 160W. The CPU voltage was noted to be 1.31V.
