Saber Interactive Takes Over Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic is regarded as one of the best games in the franchise. Talks of a remake first originated in 2021, with new developers on board. After an infinite delay, things are starting to look up again.

Embracer Group has entrusted its studio, Saber Interactive, with developing the Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake, and the game is expected to be on schedule for launch.

While earlier Saber Interactive only assisted Aspyr with the remake, the studio has taken complete control now. The news was discovered in the Q1 2022 report by Embracer, where a AAA title’s development was moved from one studio to another.

The report explains,

One of the Group’s triple-A projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group. This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title. We are not expecting any material delays for the title based on this transition.

While the game and the studio have not been mentioned, it has been confirmed the report references the Knights Of The Old Republic remake. There is no rumored launch date for the game yet.

After two of the game directors’ unexpected termination, the Aspyr team was asked to show Sony and Lucasfilm the game’s progress. The two companies were unhappy with the project, eventually leading to a new studio taking over.

Aspyr had recently fixed a game crashing bug in Knights of the Old Republic 2. Players were experiencing abrupt crashes as they encountered a cutscene in the main questline.

About Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is an RPG set in the Star Wars universe.
In the original 2003 game, the story takes place almost 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire’s formation, where Darth Malak, a Dark Lord of the Sith, has unleashed a Sith armada against the Galactic Republic.
As a Jedi, the player character must venture to different planets in the galaxy to defeat Malak. Players choose from three character classes (Scout, Soldier, or Scoundrel), customize their characters at the beginning of the game, and engage in round-based combat against enemies.
By interacting with other characters and making plot decisions, players can earn Light Side and Dark Side Points. The alignment system will determine whether the player’s character aligns with the light or dark side of the Force.
