Intel Arc A380 Desktop GPU Compatibility Tested in 50 Games Titles

Intel’s Arc A380 is the only desktop GPU from the lineup. The SKU was launched first out of the Arc series, exclusively in China. The GPU barely managed to outperform AMD’s Radeon 6400X in gaming tests.

PC Games Hardware tested Intel’s Arc A380 for compatibility in 50 titles released from 1999 to 2022.

It was reported that Intel has performance issues with the games that do not use modern APIs, i.e., Vulkan or DirectX 12. The company is actively working to fix as many bugs as possible and optimize its graphics architecture for older games.

Recently, Lisa Pearce, Vice President and GM for Visual Compute Group at Intel, confirmed the company would work to optimize Arc GPU architecture for the older APIs– DX9 and DX11 APIs, while DX11 should eventually run as smoothly as DX12 in the future.

However, this procedure will be done over time, and anyone opting for Arc GPUs should be aware of the issues beforehand.

Intel’s latest driver update released on August 19 has eliminated many issues with GPU compatibility and its Control panel. While it does not fully resolve the issues, Intel has promised it will continue rolling out plenty more updates in the future.

Some selected games require specific Intel drivers to work but since Intel branched its Arc drivers, the games work just fine.

Next month, Intel is more than likely to launch its Arc A7 graphics, the upper mid-range series that may finally put Intel on performance charts against NVIDIA and AMD most popular GPUs. Unfortunately for Intel, both companies will soon introduce new architecture, which will strengthen their position even further.

Intel will launch its Arc A7 graphics cards next month. The GPUs will be competing with NVIDIA’s RTX 40 series and AMD’s Raphael series.
