Sony has prioritized accessibility in its games for the last few years. Many first-party titles such as Horizon: Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and the newly released The Last of Us Part 1 will have a catalog of settings to modify. Even the upcoming title God of War: Ragnarok will offer a detailed selection of options for players to check out.
Sony confirmed God of War: Ragnarok will have vast accessibility options, allowing players to tweak settings to their liking.
There will be almost 60 customizable settings, including basic options like captions and subtitles tweaks, AutoSprint, aiming and blocking styles, reducible motion sickness, and a High Contrast mode.
The Lead UX designer for Ragnarok, Mila Pavlin, revealed that her team utilized a variety of consultants and testers to work on the four key fields— vision, hearing, motor skills, and cognitive understanding.
The High Contrast mode will allow players to change colors for specific items, characters, backdrops, and more. The setting will improve visibility and reduce screen clutter. The design team also used audio cues and captions to minimize progression “blockers” and indicate general area button prompts and puzzle timing.
60-plus features is tremendous to get to. I still think we can do better. I think we can push it further. But honestly, I feel like people will be excited to see just how many more players can play. And if I can push a feature to the point where one more player – just one more player – could play, then that would be the greatest thing in the world; to be able to see that one player and understand how that lets them connect with the community and connect with everyone.

Players will get a holistic sensory experience using audio, visual, and haptic feedback from Sony’s DualSense controller.
As the launch date comes closer, Sony is giving out more and more information about the God of War sequel. Recently, the new Svartalfheim realm was featured in a gameplay video.
God of War: Ragnarok releases on November 9 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
