PlayStation dropped a new trailer for God of War: Ragnarok, featuring epic battle scenes at the State of Play event. The video showed a glimpse of what fans can expect in the upcoming God of War sequel. Ragnarok will follow Kratos and Atreus through the Nine realms.
The new gameplay trailer of God of War: Ragnarok showed a faceoff between Kratos and Thor.
Towards the end of the video, Kratos is knocked back and slides on the frozen surface, after which the camera pans to reveal his opponent, Thor, one of the main antagonists players will confront in the game.
Kratos then throws his signature Leviathan Axe at the God of Thunder, who dodges the attack by throwing his hammer, Mjolnir, causing lightning to spark as the two weapons clash.
At the trailer’s beginning, Atreus talks about keeping secrets from loved ones to protect them. The next scene shows Tyr joining the father-son duo on their quest. Tyr is an important ally from the first game; Ragnarok will explore the character’s arc and relationship with the protagonists.
When Kratos confronts Atreus, he denies keeping secrets from him and refuses to answer. As a progression from God of War(2018), the story has evolved significantly, as Kratos states that despite not believing in Atreus’ leadership, he follows his guidance on their journey.
Raf Grassetti, the game’s art director, claimed fans still “haven’t seen anything yet.”
This is great news since the trailer revealed some different cinematics from the game as well as some gameplay footage for PlayStation 5.
The Svartalfheim gameplay trailer showed the mechanics and art direction of the game. The developers have put a lot of work into the game, which is evident from the snippets we have seen so far.
As the launch date is just a few months away, more and more game details are being released. One thing is for sure, Ragnarok will be a treat for players.
The original God of War set high standards, being one of the most popular PlayStation games. In just two months, we will be able to experience intense action and narrative.
