Intel’s XeSS DP4a Performance Tested on AMD & NVIDIA Graphics Cards

Intel recently launched its super-resolution technology XeSS earlier this week. The software can be tested on  Intel’s low-end A380 or the Arc A7 desktop and mobile GPUs. Check out the reviews for the latest XeSS technology.

Intel’s XeSS DP4a was tested on AMD and NVIDIA GPUs for Shadow of the Tomb Raider(DX12). The results showed the software offered a slightly boosted performance.

The chart compares the rendering power of Native, DLSS, and the latest XeSS tested on NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. XeSS Quality delivered 112 FPS which is slower than NVIDIA’s DLSS performance.

This one’s a more comprehensive test conducted on several AMD and NVIDIA GPUs from different generations. XeSS is pretty compatible with all the processors. However, the software lacks speed in some cases and does not always boost performance.

Editors are claiming the XeSS DP4a is not designed to support all graphics cards but are instead emulated with 24-bit integers. This could be why RX Vega and Navi 10 series delivered at a slower pace. The overall performance has improved, but it is minimal at best.

Intel has confirmed the performance and graphics for XeSS DP4a and XeSS XMX will be different. Interestingly, the DP4a matched native performance in several cases.

With Intel’s Arc A7 GPUs launching on October 12th, we can expect bug fixes, improvements, and optimizations in the near future.
