Blizzard Announces They are Looking into Overwatch 2 Hero Lockout Bug

Overwatch 2 recently went under two maintenance sessions, surprisingly soon after the game was launched on October 4. Even after multiple reviews, the game is not completely error-free.

Blizzard gave an update on an Overwatch 2 bug that prevents players from selecting their owned heroes when they enter a match.

The studio informed fans that they were looking into the issue and will resolve it as soon as possible.

Blizzard pointed out this is caused by an issue with Overwatch 2 servers that keeps track of player progressions. The studio did not divulge any further details nor any estimated time frame on when the issue will be finally resolved.

Another issue faced by the game on release was long waiting times when a huge number of players attempted to log in to the game at once. It seems just when Blizzard fixes a problem, another one pops up.

Overwatch 2

Two major heroes, Bastion and Torbjorn, were removed from the game due to character faults. Bastion can’t be selected in any game mode, and Torbjorn has been relegated just to quick play at the time of writing. The heroes’ abilities were restricted as players could utilize Bastion’s Artillery Fire and Torbjorn’s overload more times than they were meant to.

The rewards and progression system for Overwatch 2 is strangely different from the first part. This has upset some veteran fans who are now claiming the true essence of the first Overwatch game has been lost.

Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

About Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.

Overwatch 2 is set to launch as free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access on October 4, 2022. It will feature full cross-platform play.
