Back in September, Ubisoft announced a plethora of new and upcoming games as part of the company’s new platform, Infinity. Some of these games are Assassin’s Creed Red, Jade, Invictus, and Hexe; all of which are reportedly single-player titles.
Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Invictus is in development and that the standalone game will be a multiplayer title.
The Invictus team also includes some renowned veterans from For Honor. Invictus will be available via Assassin’s Creed Infinity.
Since a fraction of the For Honor team is also working on Invictus, we can expect the action sequences to be a tad bit more focused on melee combat. This might be disappointing news for those who were anticipating stealth-based missions. However, Ubisoft has publicly announced its intentions to go back to the franchise’s roots.
Ubisoft had shut down multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed earlier this year. But it looks like the popular gameplay mode, as seen in Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Brotherhood, will be making a return in Invictus.
With Invictus also in development, the total number of in-progress Assassin’s Creed titles is now five. Even if Ubisoft decides to fast track work, it will be a few years before we get to see Invictus in action.
Assassin’s Creed Invictus is currently in development.
