Genshin Impact’s New Graphics Rendering System Receives Heavy Backlash 

Genshin Impact version 3.2 introduced a cel-shaded rendering technique in its new update to give the game more anime-inspired visuals. However, this wasn’t too well received by the HoYoverse community.  

Reddit user @Yaver7 shared their review on the new graphics system, claiming the FSR is terrible.  

The detailed post talked about how the decision to replace the previous anti-aliasing techniques, SMAA and TAA, with FSR 2.0 makes absolutely no sense. The latter is an AI upscaling technology meant to boost the frame rate of a game. However, Genshin Impact has a limit of 60 FPS on PC.  

Many other users joined in on the discussion, sharing their thoughts on the update. Some players mentioned how they were unaware of the changes until their eyes started to hurt after a few minutes playing the game. Fans are now urging others to submit their feedback to the developers in hopes of bringing back TAA and SMAA. 

The timing to bring in new AA techniques could have been better since the update 3.2 also introduced one of the greatest boss fights in the game. Travelers will face off against gigantic transformers-like monstrosities controlled by Scaramouche and shitty graphics should be the last thing holding one back.  

The first banner of the new update also revealed Sumeru’s primary protector, Dendro Archon Nahida. She will be a new support with the power to adapt to different team composition requiring a strong Dendro applicator.  

There has been no comment on the backlash by HoYoverse yet. Hopefully, the team decides to bring about a better rendering system soon.
