First Ever God of War Inspired Cookbook Launched by Insight Editions

Food has not always been a major part of God of War games, even though Kratos and Atreus are hunters. In God of War (2018), the titular characters can be seen enjoying some apples and mead, but that was about it. The sequel God of War: Ragnarok revealed more about their eating habits and diet, with a scene featuring them sharing a savory meal consisting of sausages, beans, and bread.

Insight Editions has launched the official God of War cookbook, featuring Kratos and Atreus, which has recipes inspired by the Norse realms of Midgard, Alfheim, Jötunheim, and more.

God of War: The Official Cookbook of the Nine Realms

The cookbook is a collaboration between Victoria Rosenthal and Rick Barba, writers of famous reads, The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook and God of War: Lore and Legends, respectively.

The illustrations accompanying the recipes have been done by the talented Iris Compiet. Either Kratos or Atreus can be seen in the drawing.

Every recipe has an introductory snippet that explains how that meal fits in the God of War universe. The helpful and easy guide explains the cooking process step-by-step, encouraging even beginner cooks to try it out for themselves.

Mushroom Quiche Recipe

This is not the first time a gaming cookbook has been published. 343 Industries recently released an official Halo cookbook featuring over 70 recipes. Several other gaming franchises like The Witcher, Destiny, Street Fighter, The Elder Scrolls, and World of Warcraft, also have their own cookbooks, which serve as popular holiday gifts.

With God of War joining the group, we can finally know what a demi-god feasts upon!

About God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is an action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released on November 9, 2022, for PS4 and PS5.

Ragnarok is the ninth installment in the God of War series, chronologically, and the sequel to 2018’s God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game is set in ancient Norway and features series protagonists Kratos and his young son Atreus. The events of the game are expected to initiate Ragnarok – a series of events that, according to Norse lore, bring about the end of days and the death of the Norse gods.
