Crystal Dynamics Plans to Reveal New Tomb Raider Game Details in 2023

Released in 1996, Tomb Raider went on to become one of the biggest action-adventure games. The latest game in the series was Shadow of the Tomb Raider, launched back in 2018. Developer Crystal Dynamics had announced earlier that it was working on an upcoming Tomb Raider game using Unreal Engine 5. 

The recent investor meeting at Crystal Dynamics revealed that the new Tomb Raider game would be revealed next year. 

Crystal Dynamics CEO, Phil Rogers, said that specific details about the upcoming game cannot be made public yet, but he is excited about the game’s directive vision. The game is said to have “next-level storytelling and gameplay experiences” made possible using the power of Unreal Engine 5. 

Although unlikely, it is possible that the game might launch next year itself, but fans will have to wait for an official announcement from the developer itself. Reportedly, the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. 

The plot has not been revealed yet, but fans are guessing the game will either pick up where Shadow of the Tomb Raider left off, or follow the original trilogy’s chronology. Another crazy fan theory is that it would start a new storyline for the protagonist, Lara Croft. 

There is also the possibility that the new Tomb Raider game will be a remaster. Lately, developers of classic games have been either finally releasing their awaited sequels or remastering old versions. 

Square Enix amazed its fans with the revamped Final Fantasy 7 and even announced the release of the final part of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth by the end of next year. Whatever the case may be, just the prospect of a new Tomb Raider game is exciting enough!
