Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 was launched along with Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The battle royale game offers new features, improvements, and a new DMZ mode which focuses on survival and extinction. Both the games came out just one after the other, and it looks like the community is enjoying them.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 achieved a huge milestone as it surpassed 25 million players in just 5 days.
Warzone 2 is a free-to-play game, which makes it more preferable for players. For comparison, Call of Duty: Warzone, which was released in 2019, took 10 days to reach 30 million users. At this rate, it will be mere days before Warzone 2 surpasses the original title, which crossed over 100 million players in 2021.
Don’t let these big numbers fool you; Call of Duty: Warzone 2 also received negative reviews as some frustrated players took to social media to vent about their problems. It has a rating of “Mostly Negative” on Steam, and the current user score on Metacritic is a modest 2.6.
The discussion is mainly centered around PC players arguing over console users having more advantage due to better aim-assist. However, other issues such as UI experience, loot system, and matchmaking are also reasons for concern.
In terms of sales, Modern Warfare 2 has generated over $1 billion within 10 days of launch. This is the fastest any Call of Duty game has taken to achieve this breakthrough. The game also holds the title for the biggest-ever launch on the PlayStation Store.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
