Call of Duty: Warzone Goes Live w/ New Name; Multiple Features Missing

Activision took down Warzone on November 16 when Warzone 2.0 was launched, and it has been offline ever since for 12 whole days. This interval was used to work on the game, and make a few changes.

The original Warzone, now called Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, is back online after a downtime period.

The developer stated the game was pulled down to make sure its sequel had a successful launch, and since this period coincided with Thanksgiving as well.

There’s some more changes also in the new Warzone other than the name. Any double XP tokens, battle passes or store bundles previously earned, will not be supported in Warzone Caldera. There won’t be an in-game store either. However, all progression, battle pass content, and purchases will be transferred forward.

The features from Warzone 2.0 will not be supported in the original game. However, any COD points players have will be carried over to Warzone 2.0.

Warzone Caldera will have a “standard battle royale playlist,” except Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep. The ESRB rating for the new game is M for Mature.

Activision will introduce a small-scale map in Warzone 2.0 soon. It is also giving a couple of items for Warzone 2.0 to all veteran Warzone players as a token of appreciation.

Warzone Caldera is clearly a downgrade from the original to push players towards Warzone 2.0. The sequel has quickly amassed over 25 million users in just five days. Activision has a lot of content planned for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, including a free access multiplayer week.
