RPCS3 PlayStation 3 Emulator Can Boot Every PS3 Game Ever Released

Sony’s PlayStation 3 console has been around for over 16 years. However, the console is still relevant due to its high-quality games, namely, Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon’s Souls, and Gran Turismo 6. Emulating these games on PC has been significant for many gamers. This was done with the help of the infamous Cell processor used by Sony’s seventh-gen consoles.

Open-source PS3 emulator, RPCS3, has announced that the application can now successfully boot every PS3 title ever released.

This news also applies to PlayStation Plus Premium PS3 games like Infamous and Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time. However, one must not assume that all these games are also playable on PC.

Currently, almost 68% of all PS3 games show playable performance, and can be completed without game-breaking bugs. The remaining 32% successfully boot up but are unplayable.

PlayStation 3 emulation has been RPCS3’s division for the majority of time since the original console is hard to work out. This achievement just means that RPCS3 will continue to work on PS3 games until all titles can run smoothly on PC.

There has been no official statement from Sony yet. On the other hand, companies like Nintendo and Valve have expressed their strong views about emulation, the latter had recently deleted a Steam Deck video featuring Switch emulation and how to dodge potential errors.

There have been some rumors suggesting that Sony is developing a PS3 game emulation for PlayStation 5. In the beginning of the year, known leaker Jeff Grubb, claimed that it is possible for Sony to work on classic reruns for latest consoles. There has been no development on this matter though.

Sony has no Plans of Developing Gran Turismo 7 PC Now or Anytime Soon
