Even though Dead Island 2 was unexpectedly postponed for an additional 12 weeks, this has not stopped the developers from promoting the dark and gory zombie-slaying game.
Game Informer’s recent interaction with Dead Island 2 revealed two previously unknown characters– Ryan and Dani. Both these characters showcase the apocalyptic game’s innate storytelling.
Ryan is a hunky “firefighter” pole dancer while Dani is an Irish punk rocker with an immense love for roller derby. Their skills are finely tuned to their personalities; Ryan can easily tackle bulky enemies and Dani specializes in heavy attacks.
Dead Island 2’s narrative designer, Ayesha Khan, talked about how the game is not designed to be very serious, since it deals with such topics like apocalyptic zombies and post-catastrophe survivors.
Ryan is created in such a manner that at first glance, one would assume him to be an authoritative figure, whereas, in reality, he is far from it. Similarly, Dani left her home in Ireland to settle in California. This is reflected in her nature and her frantic tendencies.
Dead Island 2 was announced over a decade ago. It might seem surreal for the original title’s fans that the IP will be finally released next year. It will be exciting to see what Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have been working on, and by the brief glimpses, Dead Island 2 looks like one hell of a game.
