New NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti Faster Than Factory-Overclocked Variant

NVIDIA launched a modified version of the RTX 3060 Ti graphics card in October 2022. However, these cards were not easy to grab due to their limited availability. Hence, there was no proper report on how these updated models performed.

ITHardware has published a report of the RTX 3060 Ti in comparison to the RTX 3070.

There is a minimal performance increase of 1-2%. The new RTX 3060 Ti is faster than the factory overclocked variant.

The RTX 3060 Ti is paired with the GA104 GPU and features 4864 CUDA cores. The older card has the same specs. The only difference is the updated memory which is now 19 Gbps GDDR6X as compared to the 14 Gbps GDDR6. The maximum bandwidth is increased to 608 GB/s from 448 GB/s.

As a result, the TDP is also more, 200W to 225W. Evidently, greater performance comes at a cost.

The ASUS RTX 3060 Ti TUF model, which was tested, is a factory overclocked card with a boost of 1755 MHz, i.e, a 5.4% increase. You can argue that this is not a fair comparison.

RTX 3060 Ti

When overclocked, the RTX 3060 Ti boosted to 1815 MHz which is 150 MHz more than the stock variant. The memory can go up to 1263 MHz (2.2 Gbps). All this, combined with a locked TDP setting, can yield 4% to 6% better performance.

Even though the performance might just be slightly better, it is still notable. NVIDIA’s latest graphics card, the RTX 4090, is a high-end model that is comparable to the RTX 3090 Ti. With its ups and downs. NVIDIA is a significant competitor in the GPU market.
