Co-Director for Resident Evil 4 Remake Didn’t Want to Make the Title

The co-director of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Kasunori Kadoi, recently did an interview with Game Informer. Kadoi talked about the difficulties of remaking Resident Evil 4, and the challenges the team faced.

Kadoi-san stated that he was unsure about making the Resident Evil 4 Remake due to the game’s loyal fan following.

He also revealed that the directors, him and Yasuhiro Ampo, decided against making something that would attempt to “revolutionize” the horror genre, like the original Resident Evil 4. Instead, they focused more on incorporating improved elements to the game.

Elements which could be developed better were— the characters and the plot. A remake meant that characters would have a chance to show off their personalities, interactions, and back stories.

“Among the RE series and even games in general, the original RE4 has become a legend. I knew that it would be difficult to successfully remake it, and if we made one mistake with any updates we made, we would anger its fans.”

Although Resident Evil 4 Remake is true to the original 2005 title, there are few new things too. The remake will feature enemies who were supposed to appear in Resident Evil 4 but were scrapped due to creative decisions.

Resident Evil 4 is considered a legendary game, some even claim that it’s one of the best horror games of this generation. You can see why anyone would hesitate to take on this challenging task of creating a game equal if not better than the original masterpiece.

Even though games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Amnesia: The Bunker are also releasing at the same time around Resident Evil 4 Remake, the latter is expected to not face too much competition. Fans will be beyond excited to play their beloved horror game once again and relive their childhood memories.

Resident Evil 4 Remake releases on March 24th, for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series C/S.
