Leaked Documents Reveal Activision’s Plans for Call of Duty 2024

Looking back at the last decade, the gaming industry has certainly come a long way, and rightfully so. Publishers are now choosing to release their games only on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. This has become the norm now. There’s always the collective idea to include as many players as possible and that includes going for a well-rounded launch.

According to some newly leaked documents, it was revealed that Activision plans to launch Call of Duty 2024, codenamed Cerberus, on last-gen consoles. This suggests that Call of Duty 2023 could make it to last-gen consoles as well.

However, one should note that this information dates back to December 2022, and there’s no telling if this detail has been changed since. So, unless Activision officially announces this news, it remains unconfirmed as of now.

Given Activision’s future plans regarding Call of Duty, we might be looking at a single unified engine running all Call of Duty games. It might be designed to support last-gen platforms so making a lower-spec version will be quite easy. This will make the entire gaming experience for Call of Duty fans more seamless and enjoyable.

Activision has recently signed a 10-year agreement to bring Call of Duty titles to Nintendo consoles. So, the company is already committed to developing less-demanding hardware.

Call of Duty 2024 is reportedly being developed by Treyarch. The game will be a sequel to the Black Ops sub-series. There were a few rumors implying that Call of Duty 2023 will probably be skipped. However, it was later confirmed that developer Sledgehammer Games is working on a traditional Call of Duty title which will be launched this year.
