Just a month ago, the first 3DMark scores for AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS Phoenix integrated GPUs were shared online. The graphics processor scored 2486 points at 25W and 2791 points at 54W. As the final launch date comes closer, more benchmark results are appearing.
YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead shared a screenshot featuring the Ryzen 7 7840SHS (AMD OPN Code: 100-000000964) scoring 259X points at a power limit of 25W. This is 4% higher with a lower graphics clock than the Ryzen 9 7940HS.
The integrated Radeon 780M GPU is based on 12 Compute Units, the same as the last-gen Rembrandt Zen3+ CPU. However, the new processor will feature an upgraded RDNA3 architecture rather than the last-gen RDNA2.
The 780M iGPU will also feature a slightly faster clock speed, going up to 2.8 GHz in the fastest HS variant, and 2.7 GHz in the APU tested.
AMD has slightly toned down the clock for its Ryzen 7040HS series, so there’s no more 3.0 GHz RDNA3 iGPUs on Phoenix APUs.
Here are the specs for Ryzen mobile processors:
Cores/Threads | Base/Boost Clock | GPU Clock | GPU | |
Ryzen 9 7940HS | 8C/16T | 4.0/5.2 GHz | 2.8 GHz | R780M (12CU) |
Ryzen 7 7840HS | 8C/16T | 3.8/5.1 GHz | 2.7 GHz | R780M (12CU) |
Ryzen 5 7640HS | 6C/12T | 4.3/5.0 GHz | 2.6 GHz | R760M (8CU) |
AMD’s Ryzen 7040HS series can be used to upgrade handheld gaming consoles. The iGPU is estimated to deliver almost 30% improvement while its power is limited to 25W.
AMD has not revealed any Phoenix APU with 15W, so the only viable option i.e., 25W default TDP is a little high for battery-powered mobile devices.
