There have been multiple reports of a troublesome bug in the AMD Radeon drivers which can halt installation of the operating system. Users did not face any trouble though, even after using the ‘Factory Reset’ option, which is what supposedly causes the problem. However, AMD never acknowledged this issue until now.
Brad Chacos, editor and reviewer from PCWorld recently faced this problem, and started working on a solution with AMD’s assistance. AMD admitted that this rare issue does indeed exist, and suggested users to refrain from using Factory Reset while installing drivers.
Even when you’re updating the system, it would be wise to not use this option. Usually, when installing a new operating system, your drivers will be updated first. So, one must ensure that this is done before installing new drivers.
In case you experienced this bug while installing Windows on your system, it’s likely that the process was corrupted, so it is advised to reinstall your operating system. However, this is suggested only if all other options have been exhausted.
Windows’ built-in boot recovery module is hard to configure, but it can quickly resolve the problem. But it is essential to hit the right button at the right time.
