AMD Ryzen 7040 “Phoenix” Series APUs Rumored to Launch in May

AMD had earlier announced that the Ryzen 7040 Phoenix APUs launch would be postponed to April. This was done to make sure that the platform isn’t rushed and to deliver optimum user experience. Despite the delay, AMD has announced several Ryzen 7040-powered devices.

AMD missed the Ryzen 7040 Phoenix APU launch deadline as the company went silent in April. No product has reached retail stores or announced officially for sale. The majority of Ryzen 7040 laptops are now targeting a mid-May release.

A few Ryzen 7040-equipped laptops from ASUS are open for pre-orders at certain retailers such as the popular Chinese retailer JD.com. Other than that, there aren’t that many leads available.

The reason that everyone has been waiting for the AMD Phoenix APU-powered laptops is their efficient performance. These laptops are also one of the best integrated graphics solutions. This is the deal breaker for anyone looking for a gaming laptop under budget.

AMD recently reduced the clock speeds for the Ryzen 7040 by 2000 MHz. The Phoenix iGPU will no longer feature 3.0 GHz RDNA3 clocks. Although this will lower performance, the RDNA3 GPU still makes up for an attractive buy.
