NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti w/ 16GB VRAM will switch to AD106-351 GPU

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is a premium graphics card based on Ada Lovelace architecture with 4352 CUDA cores. It is part of NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 series whose release is spread out over the course of the next 10 weeks. Their next upcoming launch is the RTX 4060 Ti with 8GB memory size.

According to a rumor, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti with 16GB VRAM will switch to the AD106-351 from the 350 and also to 363 SKU from the 361. While only the GPU variant has been changed, the rest of the specs such as CUDA core count and the board design (PG190) remain the same.

GeForce RTX 4060

The RTX 4060 Ti with improved memory requires a different GPU which can provide more power. This is expected since doubling the memory size would also increase the overall power consumption.

This was revealed in the documents provided by NVIDIA to its board partners. However, NVIDIA is yet to supply the GPU proposed for this change so at this moment, it merely remains a proposal.

The TDP for RTX 4060 16GB will be boosted to 165W which is just 5W higher than RTX 4060 8GB’s TDP of 160W. NVIDIA has not confirmed whether the former will have the same memory clock of 18Gbps or not. However, given the details present, it is a safe assumption to make.

After the confusing incident with MSI’s GeForce RTX 3060 Ti SUPER 3X, NVIDIA is extra careful while designing different cards with a similar nomenclature. NVIDIA is scheduled to Launch the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB on May 24th whereas the 16GB variant will be released in the second half of July.
