Xbox Live Gold will be replaced by Xbox Game Pass Core from Sept 14

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has taken over Xbox Live Gold with its superior perks and offers. With the subscription, gamers can play online multiplayer titles for free and Xbox Gold Live games along with access to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass libraries. This definitely boosts its popularity over the alternate service.

Microsoft is officially ending its Xbox Live Gold subscription service on September 14th. It will be replaced with a tier of Game Pass called Xbox Game Pass Core which will cost $9.99 per month or $59.99 annually.

Xbox Game Pass Core will not include monthly free games but subscribers will have access to a few selected Game Pass titles. Microsoft is expected to update this list up to 2-3 times every year. If a player has a free game with gold games which has already been claimed, it will be carried over with the new plan.

Those who are Gold or Ultimate members of Xbox Live Gold need not take any action. These are all the perks for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox Game Pass Core:

  • On September 14, Xbox Live Gold members will automatically become Game Pass Core members, with no change in pricing, and have immediate access to a new library of over 25 high-quality games.
  • Member deals & discounts will also be part of Xbox Game Pass Core.
  • Games with Gold will come to an end on September 1.
  • Players can continue to access any Xbox One games they previously redeemed through Games with Gold if they remain a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate member.
  • Regardless of subscription status, any Xbox 360 titles redeemed via Games with Gold in the past will be kept in a player’s library.

Here is the list of games which will be available on Xbox Game Pass Core from September 14th:

  • Among Us
  • Descenders
  • Dishonored 2
  • Doom Eternal
  • Fable Anniversary
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76
  • Forza Horizon 4
  • Gears 5
  • Grounded
  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
  • Human Fall Flat
  • Inside
  • Ori & The Will of the Wisps
  • Psychonauts 2
  • State of Decay 2
  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

Xbox Game Pass Core offers four plans for subscribers to choose from– Core, Console, PC, and Ultimate. Out of these options, Core is the cheapest at $9.99 per month.

Xbox Game Pass Core Subscription Plans

With the Xbox Game Pass Core, gamers can choose from four different versions of Game Pass. The Xbox Game Pass is not associated with Xbox 360. However, there might not be any major changes since Xbox Game Pass Core is pretty much the same as Xbox Live Gold.

With better strategies and more games, Xbox Game Pass Core can avoid a similar fate as Xbox Live Gold. Hopefully, the new subscription plan will work well in the long run.
