The critically acclaimed title Red Dead Redemption, which was originally released in 2010, is finally coming to modern consoles. Before the official announcement, fans were actually hoping for a full-fledged remake rather than a remaster. Hence, once the Red Dead Redemption re-release was announced, much disappointment ensued as expected.
Rockstar Games recently announced the re-release of Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. It will be bundled with the Undead Nightmare DLC expansion. However, multiplayer mode will be missing from the game.
The Red Dead Redemption port is reportedly priced at £39.99/$49.99 which might seem excessive for a 13-year-old game with improved visuals and graphics. Many on Reddit have even been encouraged to refrain from buying the port if they are not happy with the announcement.
“It’s a $50 (USD) port of a 13-year-old game… No graphical enhancements. No fps enhancements. No multiplayer. And it wasn’t hard to port like MGS4 because of the bad PS3 architecture. This is 100% the Xbox 360 version being ported for $50. If you want a proper remake/remaster then don’t buy this cash grab.”

Apart from expressing their discontent online, fans have gone the extra mile to review-bomb the Red Dead Redemption re-release even though it has not been launched yet. Clearly, the community is hugely disappointed with the developers.
Even the re-release announcement on YouTube has been attacked by angry fans. Currently, the trailer video has 35k likes and a staggering 110k dislikes.
While the response right now is majorly negative, it will be interesting to see how many fans actually go for the Red Dead Redemption port once it releases. Red Dead Redemption is scheduled to re-release on August 17th for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch whereas a physical release will follow on October 13th.
